2016 Ariadne Grant Skills Day

How funders can help to build relationships between groups from diverse backgrounds and different viewpoints

Why is this topic important to funders?

The results of the EU Referendum shocked many, revealing just how fragmented society has become along lines of age, wealth, education and geography. These divisions raise broader questions on the role and legitimacy of social change funders working with disenfranchised and divided communities.

A post-referendum Britain will impact on the future planning and programming decisions of funders. Drawing on experiences from places such as Northern Ireland, the Grant Skills Day will provide participants with the opportunity to consider funding aimed at bringing divided communities together and will look at different strategies, including community-led participatory grant-making and a systems-change approach to grant-making.

Contributors will include:

·         Social Change Initiative

·         Atlantic Philanthropies

·         Avila Kilmurray - most recently Advisor to the Global Fund for Community Foundations and previously Director of Community Foundation for Northern Ireland
